The boat presented here is a First 285 (23 feet) launched in 1992 by Beneteau of France and manufactured in California, North America. It is a single-handled boat and is reasonably large enough to be operated by one person. The hull has some age-related deterioration, scratches, and stains, but no major damage was found. The engine is a Volvo Penta diesel 16hp, but there are some oozing and dripping of engine oil. There was dripping oil on the tray under the engine, but it was the amount that had been sailed for 3 days. The oil is oozing from the oil seal at the rear end of the crankshaft. The bilge is dry and appears to be watertight including leaks. The thru-hull valve and toilet were replaced last year, and the other parts were replaced 7 years ago. As for the navigational instruments, the depth gauge is working, but the wind vane and speedometer are not working. The vessel is moored at sea in Okayama Prefecture.
