McCONAGHY KER33: An IRC racer with a track record among the best in Japan. Boat Overview: This “KER33” was built by McConaghy Boats, a world-renowned racing yacht builder, and and is a high-performance IRC racer designed by renowned designer Jason Ker. It was launched in Cowes, UK, in 2016 and imported to Japan by the current owner in 2020. Since then, it has undergone continuous improvements and upgrades, and has achieved numerous victories in major IRC races in Japan. In addition to winning the overall title at the Kanto Middle Boat Championship, it has achieved outstanding results in the All-Japan Middle Boat Championship, the NIPPON CUP, and the Pearl Race, earning high acclaim as one of the top-performing boats in the country. This boat’s overwhelming strengths ■ Thorough weight reduction (approx. 80 kg) Lightweight cabin ceiling and interior materials Replaced with a carbon toilet Replaced with a carbon sink Replaced with a carbon chart table Replaced with a carbon engine box Based on advice from designer Jason Ker, a weight reduction of approximately 80 kg was achieved. The specifications are designed to pursue even higher racing performance. ■ Replacement with an AXXON Carbon Mast The mast was replaced with a new AXXON carbon mast in 2018. Additionally, based on advice from designer Jason Ker, the bowsprit was extended by 200 mm. By further evolving the design concept, we have achieved improved downwind performance. ■ Beautiful “Perfect Black” Hull The hull was painted black using Alexseal Premium Yacht Coating at the prestigious British shipyard “Berthon.” The deep, beautiful black hull has become a talking point on the domestic racing scene and is affectionately known as “Perfect Black.” Comprehensive Equipment ■ Sails Most of the development work was carried out with sailmakers on board.Top-grade sails, primarily Doyle Stratis, are included. All of them have been used in only a few regattas. “Several training sails included.” *Can be converted to a spinnaker pole configuration. Owner’s Comment: “I am very fond of this boat and have no particular reason to part with it. However, if there is someone who understands its value and will cherish it while enjoying racing and sailing, I would be willing to sell it. It offers high racing performance yet is easy to handle—requiring only two or three people—and is a versatile boat that is also enjoyable for cruising.” Key Specifications Length Overall (LOA) 10.00 m Beam 3.36 m Draft 2.00 m Engine YANMAR 3YM20 Capacity 10 people Operating Area Coastal IRC Rating 1.028 Delivery Date Delivery will take place after the conclusion of racing in July 2026.
